Privacy Policy — Sarah Killed Me!
Effective date: 13 July 2026
Sarah Killed Me! (“the app”) is published by Denella Ltd (contact: contactus@denellapublishing.com).
The short version
The app collects no personal data unless you choose to join the optional daily leaderboard. If you do, the only things stored are the display name you type in and your puzzle results (solve time, clues used, score, date). If the app ever crashes, it sends an anonymous crash report (see below). Everything else stays on your device.
Playing without the leaderboard
- No accounts. The app has no sign-up, login, or user profiles.
- Local storage only. Your game progress (scores, streaks, current level, settings) is saved in the app’s local storage on your device. It is deleted when you uninstall the app. We never see it.
- Notifications. The app can show a daily local reminder that a new puzzle is available. This notification is scheduled entirely on your device; no server is involved. You can decline or disable notification permission at any time in your device settings.
- No ads. The app contains no advertising and no third-party ad SDKs.
- No analytics. We do not collect usage analytics, advertising identifiers, or track how you play. The only thing the app ever sends on its own is an anonymous crash report if it breaks (see “Crash reports” below).
The daily leaderboard (optional)
Today’s Case can be played ranked on a worldwide daily leaderboard. This is entirely optional — you choose it by entering a display name and tapping “Begin”. If you prefer, tap “Play unranked” instead: the same puzzle, no display name, and nothing is sent anywhere.
- What is stored: the display name you choose, and your result for that day’s puzzle — solve time, number of clues used, score, and the date.
- What is public: that display name and result appear on the in-app leaderboard, visible to other players. Choose a nickname, not your real name, if you prefer to stay anonymous — we have no way of knowing who a display name belongs to.
- Moderation: display names are filtered for offensive content, and any name can be reported from the leaderboard screen (“Report a name”). Reported names are reviewed and removed if inappropriate.
- What is NOT collected: no email address, no account, no device identifiers, no location, no contacts — nothing beyond the name you type and the puzzle result.
- Where it is stored: on our database provider Supabase, hosted in the European Union.
- How long: results are kept so daily boards remain viewable. To have an entry removed, email contactus@denellapublishing.com with the display name and date, and we will delete it.
- Not shared, not sold. Leaderboard data is used only to display the leaderboard. It is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
- Abuse prevention: to stop automated abuse of the leaderboard, our server briefly counts requests per connection. The network address is irreversibly hashed before being counted and the counters are deleted after two days; no readable addresses are ever stored.
Crash reports
If the app closes unexpectedly, the next time it opens it sends us a short anonymous report so we can find and fix the problem. It contains: where in the game the problem happened, the app version, the device’s browser signature (user-agent string), its memory class and screen size, and the technical error message if there was one. It contains no display name and nothing that identifies you or your device.
- No identifiers: no advertising ID, serial number, account, or location — a crash report cannot be traced to a person or linked to a leaderboard entry.
- Used only for fixing bugs, stored with our database provider Supabase (European Union), never shared or sold.
- Retention: reports are deleted once the bug they describe is fixed.
Children
The app is a logic puzzle suitable for a general audience. It collects no data from anyone unless the leaderboard is used, and the only leaderboard data is a freely-chosen display name and puzzle results. We encourage all players, especially younger ones, to use a made-up nickname.
Changes
If a future update changes what data the app handles, this policy will be updated before release.
